Abstract: The stereochemistry of sulphur oxidation in 1,3-dithiane systems has been investigated using 5-tert-butyl-1,3-dithiane as substrate and modelled using the PM3/COSMO transition state solvation model and at ab initio 6-310* levels for the reactant.
