Abstract: | The purpose was to evaluate the interaction between different stages of maturation and training programs on the explosive strength in boys. Fifty-four boys (10.83±0.48 years) were randomly assigned into two experimental groups, strength training (TF n=19), strength training with TRX® (FTRX n=18), for 8 weeks (2x/week), and a control group (C n=17; no training). In the post- training, significant improvements were observed on the 1 kg medicine ball-throw (FTRX=6.0%, p≤0.001; TF 5.9%, p≤0.001) and on the 20m sprint running (FTRX 1.4%, p≤0.001; TF 2.3%, p≤0.001) in both experimental groups. The interaction between maturation and training groups was not significant. However, the effect of maturation showed significant to improve explosive strength. An advantage of biologically mature boys in explosive strength was found compared with their less mature peers. Moreover, strength training and strength training with TRX® may be considered beneficial alternatives to optimize explosive strength in physical educational classes. |
